I am also in the direct line of Joseph Ingels (1791-1850).

George > Joseph > James > Millard > Frederick > Kenneth (my grandfather)

I have run into the same roadblock regarding George. The only official documentation I can find regarding George is in the "1820 United States Federal Census for Meigs, OH" where he is listed as a neighbor of Joseph. The spelling is listed as "Ingols"

I have seen variations of the Mary Ramey / Ramsey marriage, but I've yet to see anything official in regards to location or date of the marriage.

I'm also struggling to find a solid link to George & Joseph as well. That they are father & son seems to be the general consensus, but the only "official" link I can seem to find is again, the "1820 United States Federal Census for Meigs, OH" that lists them as neighbors.

I've had more luck in the researching of Joseph Ingels. Aside from the 1820 Meigs census, I also have him listed in the 1847 & 1849 Iowa Census. I also have his Iowa Cemetery Record that lists his death date as 24 Mar 1850 and a birth year of 1791. I don't have a birth state for Joseph, but I see a reference in the 1880 KS Census for his son James (1811-1881) James lists his father's birthplace as Maryland. This seems to fit.

I'd be more than happy to share any additional info if requested and if you find anything new, I'd love to see it as well.
