Hello, my name is Janice Inglis. My father John Alexander Inglis emigrated to Australia in 1950 from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England together with my grandmother after my grandfather John Affleck Inglis died. I have always pronounced my name "Ing-gluz" which my father says is the correct Scottish way. However it can be a nuisance in Australia having to explain how it is spelt. Here in Queensland there is a well known footballer now called Greg Inglis. They always pronounce his name "Ing-lis". Funny thing is that he is of aboriginal background.
