From what I understand John Inkpen had little to no education when he left England. Upon arrival to Newfoundland he learned how to book keep and therefore several generations of Inkpen's were bookkeepers. I'm still trying to remember the rest of the story which my grandmother told me a few months ago before she passed away. As stated in previous posts many of his relatives still live in Newfoundland - I being one of them.
