William McMahon of Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ulster
My earliest known McMahon ancestors were William McMahon, Sr. and wife Mary Ann, who emigrated from Belfast aboard the ship John Bull and arrived in America on 15 Aug 1842 at the Port of New York. With them were their children William McMahon, Jr. (b. 11 Nov 1841 Belfast), Joseph McMahon (b. ABT 1837) and John McMahon (b. ABT 1835).Joseph McMahon visited "an old aunt" in Ireland in late 1883, accompanied by Capt. Timothy Cummins (aka Tim Cummings), also of Lincoln Co., MO.
The only Belfast records I have searched are city directories for Belfast and Armagh. They turned up some William McMahon possibilities.
Can anyone tell me how to search church parish registers in the vicinity of Belfast?I'm certain this family was non-Catholic as they became active Methodists after settling in Lincoln Co., MO prior to 1 Sep 1844, when their youngest daughter was born.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
