The following sounds so like your fmily that I couldn't resist sharing.
In a letter dated January, 1896, by Aaron BRINGHAM, son of Samuel BRINGHAM, written to his nephew, Friend Johnson BRINGHAM; Aaron writes;
" I was at your father's in 1839 and went from there to Moscow and then on to Iowa City, and There I seen my aunt Mrs. COLE. Stayed three days; She was my father's sister, the only one he had I think.
She married a man by the name of IRISH and they had one son, John P. IRISH.When he was only 14 years old he went making speeches all over the state. Was called the Iowa Champion.He then went to California to work on the Chronical staff at $2500 a year. I have lost track of him.His father went blind and was called the blind-man of Iowa City."
Samuel BRINGHAM was born about 1770 and died in 1833 in Tippecanoe co. Indiana.We know nothing about Sam's parents or siblings.
