Decatur County Journal-Iowa Thursday, July 3l, l9l9 JAMES IRONSIDE was born near Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, March l4, l847. He died at the St. Joseph Hospital at Centerville, Iowa, Sunday, July 27, l9l9, being at the time of his death, aged 72 years, 4 months and l3 days. He emigrated to Canada in the year l870, but returned to Scotland in l875. There he was united in marriage to MARY SYMON in l877. To this union were born three daughters; MRS. MARY STATZELL, MRS. MAGGIE HARRIS, now of Leon, and MRS. GRACE MCDOWELL, of Centerville. Accompanied by his brother, ALEX, and his wife and daughter, MARY, he came to America in the spring of l880. He leaves to mourn his departure three daughters, two sisters, MRS. MARY CAMERON, of Wilmot, S.D., and MRS. HELEN COTTERILL, of Leon; five brothers, WILLIAM, of Wilmot, S.D., ALEX and DAVID, of Leon; ADAM, of Brown's Valley, Minn., and CHARLES, of Canada; and five grandchildren. Three brothers, JOHN, of Fyvie, Scotland, GEORGE and ROBERT, of Wilmot, S.D., preceded him in death. He became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland at the age of l7, and remained a faithful member of that church until his death. He was one of the trustees of the local Presbyterian Church for many years. Notify Administrator about this message?
