In our info we do not find a Jonas. But with the spelling Isonhart, it tends to make me think the spelling should have been as ours>Isanhart or Isenhart.Does any of your info show this spelling. The earliest records I find with the spelling as ours is in the PA. census of 1810, Macungie Twp.It shows ISENHART and ISANHART.But, these names are listed in the spot where the E's should go.(There are many EISENHART/EISENHARDTs' in Pa.).
The person I am looking for is my husbands 3rd great grandfather. His name was Jacob Isanhart, born in 1770!We just can not find anything before 1813, when he was drafted in the war of 1812.He was in Ohio then.
You may be right about the intermarriages! Also orphans were taken in by families.Since we can not fin info on our Jacob, we wonder if this is what happened to him.
