Janice, I am the Uncle of Cristie Pratt, and my father, Gloster, Sr, died of colon cancer in 1959.I have the disease and have had my colon removed, as have my three children, now all grown.
ABOUT THE Disease:
it is called Familial Polyposis, is heriditory, and involves recessive gene number five.If anyone has it we are all related regardless of last names, as it started with one person.Cleveland Clinic, DR. Fazio, and his staff, who did the J pouch for my three children, has started a geneology list of all names they encounter and all they can glean from patients and families regarding this disease.
It cannot be detected prior to ten years of age or so, needs to be detected with a colonoscopy by age fifteen or so, and is classified lethal at age twenty one, or so they tell us.They took my colon out at 41 and I was most fortunate that it was not cancerous yet, but the colon was loaded with polyps.
Sorry for the spelling, and sorry for not getting into this conversation sooner but have been out of touch the last few years, and am now getting back into it.
I too am interested in the Ishee Family as I have no information on Grandmother Bessie, as she passed before I was born.I am now retired, getting remarried after a divorce, and have the time to research.Looking forward to hearing from you.
