Years ago when I first started this search, George Ivester son of Hugh did not have a known middle name. Much later, distant cousin in California wrote to Habersham County asking for help in finding his ancestors, John and Priscilla Ivester, and was sent in reply a letter saying that John was the son of "George Newell(?) Ivester", with this middle name not very readable, thus the question mark, and "Newell" being the reader's closest translation. I have never been able to verify the source of this letter, but this is the ONLY source for George's middle name. It has been accepted as factual across the board now. I thought at the time, and still hold onto the theory, that his actual name could be Newton (count the "Newtons" that descend from George, in the third, fourth, and fifth generations). I thus theorized that perhaps George's mother's name was Barbara Newton Ivester (Ebenezer Newton figures prominantly in old Ivester documents). Anybody got any thoughts on this?
