Hi Nina: Your husband is my cousin. Do you live near Habersham County? I have two elderly aunts there, one in Clarksville and one in Mt. Airy. My father lives in Clayton Co., GA. In case you don't have the line, there's Job Franklin 1790-1857 m. Hannah Wheeler, b. c. 1799. Their children: (1) Nancy Franklin 1817-1906 m. Walter Harrison Dawkins; (2) [daughter]; (3) my ancestor Jeremiah Richard Warren Franklin 1821-1903 (he's my 2d great-grandfather); (4) Wesley M. Franklin 1821-1905; (5) Thomas Alfred Franklin 1826-1913; (6) Jonathan Mitchell Franklin 1828-1899; (7) Sarah Jane Franklin 1831-1902 m. Jonathan Rudeseal; and (8) Moses F. Franklin 1834-1910. All of Job's sons (except Wesley) and both sons-in-law were Confederate soldiers. Meredith Manson "Manse" Franklin was the third of eleven children born to Jeremiah Richard Warren Franklin and Eliza Whisenant (1829-1921). "Manse" joined the Confederate Army at age 14, and later was a Baptist circuit preacher and farmer in the Habersham Co. area for more than 50 years. My line is through Jeremiah's fourth child, Elizabeth Ann Franklin 1852-1933 who m. Alexander Ivester 1848-1930. In the 1920s, people, especially poor rural people in the South, traveled less than people do today. Alexander and Elizabeth lived in NE GA, and had 13 children, but did manage at least 1 extended visit about 1929 to Jackson Co., FL, in the FL panhandle, where they visited their dtr Macy Queen Ivester 1892-1953 who had married the much older William Stuart (II) Pope 1864-1949 and had six children (a seventh died shortly after birth). One of those six was my father, who was about 7 years old then, and remembers his grandparents. I'm in my 50s and, like my father, married a Yankee girl so I live in N.Y. State. Gena Walls lives in TX and I will try to look her address up for you. Best regards. Notify Administrator about this message?
