Correction accepted with contrition. You are absolutely correct that William mentioned in my prior post could only have been "my" William's nephew. Muster rolls, where they exist, are notoriously unreliable or are at best a snapshot of given unit at a given time during the war.

Am currently digging into additional CSA ancestors of mine: I managed to track from FL to TN to TX 3 POPE Confederates (nephews of the grandfather of Macy Queen Ivester's husband) who were with the 17th Tex. Inf.

Also, Eve Lingerfelt, Hugh Ivester, Jr.'s wife (and "my" William's mother-in-law thanks to the marriage of first cousins) seems to have had quite a few Lingerfelt kinsmen who fought for the South.
