In our search for Ivie ancestors, we found an Elisha Ivie and wife Martha selling land to John Duncan in 1787 in Henry county Virginia. (Deed book 3 page 433). Given this land transaction occurred in 1787 and given that1802 is the earliest date we have found record for our line of Ivie’s being located in Henry county Virginia, this Elisha Ivie is probably not connected to our line of Ivie ancestors. However, if we speculate that this Elisha Ivie is an older brother to Peter Ivie (our 3rd great grandfather) -- then it follows that descendants of this Elisha Ivie would be our 4th cousins. Robert W. Baird on page 25 of his research Paper “The Line of Adam Ivey of Charles City County,” [http://www.genfiles.com/ivev/AdamIvev.htm] conveys that Elisha Ivie is Peter Ivie’s brother and is perhaps the same Elisha Ivey who appeared on the 1799 tax list of Anderson County, Tennessee.

Today we started looking on facebook for a Betsy E Young, a 2nd cousin who lived in Oberlin Ohio in 1995; however, it appears (with good probability) that we found John Ivie a 4th cousin.
