Ivory Family Genealogy Forum

Hi James
I do not know of a nursery of the name of Ivory but will keep my ears open. When I was a student in Wellington about 1951 I worked part time driving a truck for a general carrier named S Ivory but do not know if we were related. They have long since been taken over and the firm's name has disappeared. Maybe they were your contact.
Have just returned from California visiting another branch of my family and was in the Yosemite, Modesto area a week or so ago, quite near you I think. I was going to do a bit of further research but we cut our visit short as we decided to return to the safety of NZ. Ivory is a common name in the US particularly in the East, presumably because of the Irish immigration. In NZ it is also not uncommon. It is said that 50% of Aucklanders of European extraction have Irish roots.
Thank you for your interest
