Where is this Peterswaldau? Carl Erdman Jackel (1808-1879, born Peterswaldau, Silesia, Prussia, emigrated to Australia in 1848 with a wife arriving with two surviving children, Herman Carl jackel , and Augusta Luise jackel . I believe this was on the "Leontine". Are there any researchers with knowledge of the fifty members of the Peterswaldau Emigration Society who came to Australia on this ship in 1848? Erdman Jackel's wife Johanna Eleonore Bleicher was dead by 1854 when he remarried in Melbourne Victoria, as a widower, to a widow, Johanna Christiane Schoppe, born Horka, Silesia, Prussia. Does anyone know where his first wife died. or where she is buried? I guess it is in South Australia? Erdmann bought about 7 acres of land in Nunawading, Victoria in 1855, where his names is recorded as Erdmann Jeackel. His death records have his names as Yakel. Herman Jackel married Phoebe Allen in 1864 and left many decendants. Augusta Jackel married August Paech in 1867 and had ten children, many descendants under variant names, Pach, Pech, Peck. Erdman and Christina's daughter Lydia jackel married Paul Edmund Hilbrich and left many descendants in Victoria Australia.
