Hi Leanne, I don't know where in Prussia my family is from. It's one of theose mysteries I've been trying to find out, but since many areas of Germany/Prussia have not had any records copied by such groups as the LDS researchers, I'm still looking. The family name was spelled various ways, such as Jackel, Jackall, Jakel, etc. The name was adapted to Yakel and became permanent in the 1870's here. The relatives I am searching for are for my g-g grandfather Johna and his wife Barbara, both born between 1792 and 1800. THey had 10 children, all born between about 1822 and 1840, and all were born in Prussia. At thias point, the children I've been able to locate all lived and passed away here in NY, but several of them dropped out of sight (no linger in city directories or censuses) between the 1850's and 1860's. I wish I could be more helpful. To date, I've not had any luck with my family search for relatives on the Jackel/Yakel tree. We'll both have to keep trying!
Regards, Joe Yakel
