Hi Bob, Hope I can lend a lite to your search Hope you can help me Julia DeMerse (madian name) was an aunt to my g grandmother DeMerse 's are listed in the !83 city directory as James Jullia ,Mary, Philip in 1884 Susan caldwell was listed as buried in St Pauls Cemetery James was listed as a peddler and lived at 116 e cayuga st none were lilsted in1885 My gg grandparents were John and Mary(jones) DeMerse they had Katherine or Kathleen who was adopted) Minnie (h Samuel Wallace she died in1930) Edith (h Deo Matteson ) Mary died in 1883 and the children were placed in the orphanage when edith was 5 She was farmed out to the Dean's farm in Scriba and stayed there until she married. Edith was born on E, 11 and Mitchel St. 14 feb 1876 and d 5 apr 1972 Her father worked on the ships and died on the lake. Not to clear of when the orphanage records listed their keep was paid one yr then the next the mother paid it. the records arent the best their mother mary died 1883 I have a picture of Julia not sure when but she was visiting Edith Hope to get back to Oswego and do some more huntting but not until next year.
