my aunt told me that the name jacklin is anglicized from the french--this is b/c in the mid 1600's, the jacklin's(jacqueline's at this time) were Huegenots which were French Protestants unhappy with the Catholic church who turned towards Calvinism. Unfortunately, this angered Catholic France and the Huegenots were branded Heretics and banished to England, Germany and South Africa(other places as well). Probably best to look it upon the internet-quite interesting bit of history.
