KINAWLEY PARISH RECORDS 1761-1767 1761 July 5. Bap. Richard, s. of Richard Jackman & Elizabeth Allwell. (sic, Attwell); Godfathers: William Jackman & Robert Johnston. Godmothers: Frans. (Frances) Johnston + Margt. Jackman. Note: His baptism was no doubt a few years after his birth and the marriage license of his parents, so he was probably baptized as an adult. "Kinawley Parish is part in the barony of Tullaghagh, County Cavan, and part in Glenawley, but majorily occupies Knockninny, County Fermanagh. Geographically Kinawley is 6 miles from Ballyconnell, on the road to Enniskillen and the market town of Swanlinbar." Kinawley is a small village about 10 miles directly south of Enniskillen. It gives its name to the parish of Kinawley which straddles the border of Fermanagh and Cavan. Kinawley is a 'Y' road junction between 'Graffy' and 'Breens.'" The father Richard Jackman was a freeholder of land in nearby Killyneary [T/1522/1] in county Cavan in 1761. This extended Jackman family migrated with the MORTONs to Penn. in 1765 and ended-up in Washington County where they were very prominent. Notify Administrator about this message?
