Looking for information on the descendants of one Samuel C. Jackson of Des Moines County, Iowa. He was probably born in the early 1800's, either in South Carolina or Ohio, or he could have been born as late as 1822 or so. He married Mary Mongle (sometimes spelled "Mungle") in Des Moines County, Iowa on 7 Dec. 1838. His middle name may have been "Caldwell." He died after 1852 but before 1860. Children were: Mary, born about 1840 or before Sarah Jane, born about 1842 William A., born about 1845 Martha Ann, born about 1847 Hester E., born about 1849 Samuel Fremont, born about 1850 Samuel's widow Mary, son William A., and daughters Sarah and Hester moved to Creston, Union County, Iowa by the time of the 1880 census. Hester and Sarah were living in Creston at the time of the 1900 census, both still single, working in a hotel. After 1900 the only family member I've been able to trace is Hester, who was still living in Creston as of 1889, but had moved to Seward, Nebraska in time for the 1910 census (perhaps on a visit). She was back in Creston in 1915. By 1920 she had moved to Nodaway, Page County, Iowa and was living with a friend, "Dora Fleener." What happened to Mary Jackson, William A. Jackson, Martha Jackson, and Samuel Fremont Jackson? Nancy Shire Indianapolis, IN Notify Administrator about this message?
