Bob, I too, am interested in Michael Jackson's family roots. I know his grandfather was Samuel Jackson and that his wife's name was Crystal Lee King. I have on good authority that Samuel was born in 1893. Per a newspaper article, it says Samuel died in 1993, grandfather of the Jackson 5, most notably, Michael. The article was published in Nov 1993. It appears Samuel died in AZ. If you go to FamilySearch.org and look for a Samuel Jackson born in 1893, you'll see a SSI, including a Samuel born 15 Apr 1893, Social Security account (or call it what you will) issued in Arkansas. That is Michael's grandfather. I just started on this tonight, but don't know where Samuel is bured. I suspect either, AZ, AR, or CA. What I can gather is Samuel was born in AR. He should be in the 1900 census for AR. Could you do a look up for him for that year (for a Samuel aged about 7), full name might be misspelled or first name abbreviated, but he should be there. He might even be in the 1930 census for AR, being Joseph was born there. Could you look at both and let me know what you find? I don't have access to census data, but I thought if we both go looking up Michael's family tree together, we may find a good deal of info.

Here's that "authority" I spoke of. it's a website and a brief article from a magazine for African-Americans, called Jet.

Let me know what you think.
