My husband's grandfather William L. Gleason was orphaned at age 3 and raised by aunt & uncle Frank and Sarah (Sadie) Jacobi along with their only daughter Julia.
Found them in the 1920 census of NYC on W. 20 ST. William was 27 years old in the census, and he married the following year. The Jacobi's were 40 at the census. I can't read Julia's age on the image.
Would love to know more about this Jacobi family. I do know they were Lutheran. My father-in-law recalls Julia visiting them when he was a boy. Not sure of the connection except that William was a nephew; since Frank Jacobi's parents were German, I suspect Sarah (Sadie) was the blood relative.
