I can confirm that Dionysius Jacobi was in Detroit as early as 1880 (city directory of Detroit for 1880). There is a listing for Alex Jacobi in the 1875-6 version of the city directory of Detroit. There have been several "Valentine Jacobis" over the years, including the one born in 1850, his son, born in 1891 and Valentine (1850)'s nephew born 1895. According to census info, Dionysius and Caroline(a) had 9 children. These include the 3 that you listed (John Alexander, Antonie Phillippine Ursula and Valentin). I believe that "Amelia Arndt" is also a daughter based on the 1900 Michigan census of Detroit. She is listed as the wife of William Arndt. Her children are Clara, Richard, Robert and VALENTINE. Her father (Dionysius) and mother (Caroline) are in the household. Their dates match yours. Valentine (1850) DID have a daugher who was a clock repairer and jeweler in Detroit. Her name was Amalia and she went by "Molloe." I have a lot of other info on this family from the city directories and Michigan censuses. Let me know if you have interest in more detail.
