Katherine Louise Behr Jacobson obit submitted
"Katherine "Katie" Louise Jacobson, 92, was born on December 24, 1912, in Seward Township, Nobles County, MN. She was the daughter of Peter and Dora Seimans Behr. Katherine was nicknamed "Katie" by her parents and that name she used all her life. She attended school district #37 in Seward Township until 1921, when her parents retired and moved to Fulda, MN. Katie then attended school in Fulda, where she was one of the first students to receive an instrument after someone had donated a number of instruments to the school. She worked for a grocery store in Fulda and had attended the World's Fair in Chicago with her sister, Martha. Katie married Lloyd Jacobson on February 1, 1942, in Fulda. She farmed with her husband for 29 years until their retirement in 1970. After they retired they moved to Worthington, MN, where she has since lived. Katie worked for Lake Haven, which later became South Shore Care Center, for several years. She also worked for Senior Dining for 15 years and retired from that in 2004. Katie enjoyed playing cards with friends at Okabena Towers and gardening. She was also a fanatic Vikings and Twins fan. Katie died on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
Katie is survived by one son, Douglas (Ardys) Jacobson, of Worthington, MN; one daughter, Sharon (Larry) Molstad, of Thief River Falls, MN; five grandchildren, Lynnea (Glen) Faragher, of Worthington, Lynnette (Jeff) Faragher, of Worthington, Mark (Susan) Jacobson, of Apple Valley, MN, Cherrie (Scott) Asleson, of Fountain, CO and Duane (MaryLee) Molstad, of Thief River Falls, and seven great grandchildren, Shelby, Tyler, Jon, Courtney and Nathan Faragher and Kaitlyn and Abigail Molstad. She was preceded in death by her husband, one great granddaughter, Victoria Paige Molstad, one brother, Chris Behr, and seven sisters, Anna Deuschle, Margaret Goedtke, Dora Hardekopf, Minnie Ruesch, Mary Goedtke, Martha Goedtke, and Ella Behr.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Richard Ricker officiating. Casket bearers were Mark Jacobson, Jeff Faragher, Scott Asleson, Duane Molstad, Glen Faragher, and Bill Jacobson. Burial in the Worthington Cemetery."
