Jager/Jaeger/Yaeger/Yeager - Germany/Russia>NJ 1902-1930
I am looking for information on The Jage (Jaeger, Yaeger) family that lived in the Hudson Co. area of NJ--possibly in Elizabeth, NJ or Bayonne or Jersey City. I have a Fred (Friedrich?) Jager, b. abt 1876 married to Florence Deiter, b. 1866 in Germany/Poland/Russia area before 1898. Fred came in March 1902 on the Crefeld (ship) from Bremen to Ellis Island. Florence came over in August 1902 with their three children: Elsie, Emma, Arthur "Otto".
Elsie was born April 23, 1898 and died January 1960 in NJ. Elsie married Raymond Clifford Walker abt. 1917 in NJ. They had four children: Beverly Lucille, Raymond Clifford Jr., RIchard Elray, and George Walker.
Emma was born abt. 1899 and and familylore is she married and moved to Michigan. I have no evidence to support it.
Arthur "Otto" was born APril/May 1902 and was married to Eleanor, b. abt 1906, with at least two daughters: Joyce, b. abt 1927 and Jean, b. abt 1929.
Fred and Florence (with their son Arthur) are living next to Elsie and Raymond in 1920 on the census in NJ. In 1930, Arthur "Otto" is living with his wife and daughters in NJ and are on the census.
For their ethnicity, the census and passenger list for Ellis Island varies to either: Polish, German, or Russian. Fred may have been from Asowie? I haven't located that town in Europe yet.
If anyone has any other information, please email me at: [email protected]
thanks
