I think you will find that the family originally came from Walsall, near Birmingham in England. He was a saddlemaker, if I remember correctly, He move from Walsall to Leeds in Yorkshire before emmigrating to Utah with a large family. If you search the 1851/61/71 English census for Jakemans born Walsall and living in Leeds, Yorkshire you will find the family. I found this out when I started researching my roots. I found that I was from a different 'clan' of Jakemans. There are several, one main one centres on Yorksher and another on Gloucestershire and Worcestershie. Yours comes from this latter clan, mine from the other. If you have any difficulty contact me I'll see if i can find my original notes which I discounted.
