Dear Helene, Just a quick post script, David says I should explain why in 2002, I confused Alfred C. with his elder brother Henry (Harry in the 1901 census). I'm afraid it's a family thing of giving nick-names, Alfred was known to everyone as "Boy" unfortunately no one is left to ask why?
David's father, who died pre-internet said that Henry's photo was his uncle "Bob" who was killed in 1916 aged only 17, and we spent many a fruitless hour searching; finally tracing Rifleman Henry Jakeman to the Thiepval memorial in 2009.
Best Wishes, Pauline
