Info on Canadian Janviers Anyone?? Here's what I have
My great uncle, Joseph Gagne, married an Eva Janvier.Given that my great uncle's family came fromLaurierville, Megantic County, Quebec, I'm guessing that's where Eva is from but I'm not sure.He could have met her in the US.I know Joseph Gagne evenutally emmigrated to the US and we know they lived in Lawrence, Massachusetts during the 1930s, according to what my mother remembers as a child.Joseph and Eva's children are Russell, Germaine, Marcelle, and Marguerite. I believe some of their children are still living
According to my mother, Eva Janvier had two brothers: Joe and Frank. There was also a son who died very young.Frank lived in upstate NY and had a laundry business. One of Eva's brother's daughters married Emile Berube, and Emile's brother Raymond married my aunt, Cecile Rousseau, so the Berubes, Janviers and Gagnes and Rousseaus (my grandmother's married name) are connected. Some of these people wound up in New Jersey and New Hampshire.
Eva Janvier Gagne was a very interesting woman. She was very well known in the family for her fortune telling abilities. She could tell fortuneswith a deck of playing cards (or 'read cards' as we call it in our family) and she also read tea leaves and believed in signs. She was able to see this ability in my mother and started teaching my mother these things when she was a child and as my mother would go to Aunt Eva's house for lunch during her school days in Lawerence, Mass.
If anyone has any ancestral or other information about Eva Janvier, I would like to add it to our family tree.I have the Gagne ancestors if anyone connected to Eva Janvier would like that.
