Danna, I have replied to you privately as well, with the information that there were indeed TWO James Jeacocks/Jaycocks/Jaycox that died at sea. One was the James Jaycox/Jeacocks born ca 1750 in Southern Precinct, Dutchess County, NY who married Deborah Purdy. He died at sea, on a voyage, "taken for his health:, and left a widow and children. The line of this James is uncertain, but I suspect he was the son of a man I refer to as "Isaiah the Elder". The other was James, born ca 1694 in Cape May, NJ, son of William, son of Thomas and Ruth, presumably Ashmun. He "was a mariner" who died at sea, unmarried and leaving no children.
