You do not say where this family lived, and I doubt that, if his wife was b. ca. 1770, that William Jacocks was b. 1785; but all things being equal, if he was b. ca. 1785 and if he was likely the son of David and Hannah (Alguire) Jaycocks, Loyalists fro New york to what is now Ontario, he would have been born in Canada West=Upper Canada= the southern portion of Ontario.
If he was born before 1783, then he was likely born somewhere in New York State.
has apparently a son?, David, "b. 1789, Schoharie County, New York", but again, if born after 1783, this may be where the family is from, but as Loyalists they should have been in Canada by 1783.
David was likely the same at:
the latter of which indicates he was from Tryon Co., NY (the name has changed I believe), and had a wife and 3 daughters apparently in 1783; so perhaps William was born after 1783 therefore in Canada.
