Hi Warren,
I am attempting the creation of a web page for the Flewelling family. The first part of this is starting a 'journal' called, "Oak Leaves". The first issue, still in the process of being composed, deals with the ancestors of Thomas and Hannah (Smith) Flewelling. Amongst the ancestors of Thomas Flewelling were the Jaycocks, ancestors of the family in which you are interested. There may be some material of assistance to you, and if you can think of anything which might have been missed, I would like to know about it.
So far as I have been able to understand, knowledge of the early Jaycocks is sketchy, and one has to be careful about previously made assumptions. For example, Thomas and Hannah's son, Robert Flewelling of North Castle, Westchester Co., NY, married a Maplet who maiden name is said to ne Jaycocks (his second or third cousin, so to speak.) her father is variously given as Joshua and Francis. It is not clear if this is a connection with those who stayed in Connecticut, went to Long Island, New Jersey or possibly the Carolinas.
The name, Maplet, was used by the Flewellings almost to the 1900's, but nobody knows how it came to be used as a given name.
Anyway, my web site is at:

If you have any trouble finding it, let me know. I used the spelling, Jaycocks, for consistency, soundex comptibility, and as probably the best phonetic compromise amongst a large number of variations. This should allow you to search the work using just one variation.

Thomas A. Murray
