Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Thomas: Again, thank you so much for posting that Champion article to GenForum. You've been a wealth of information and I'm grateful. I come into the family with Sarah Jacocks, b 17 Oct 1761, Stanford, Dutchess Co m 1784 to Aaron Betts. Sarah is d/o Sarah & Benjamin Jacocks b c1742, possibly?? (only a hunch) of the Benjamin who married Jannetje Jones in Fishkill 1 July 1741. Still a gap of a generation to fill before getting back to the Hempstead gang of 1698.
I did go to Hempstead, researching about 10 years ago, but got a better feel for the family in a trip to Dutchess County some years later. My line then went to Ontario and came to WA with my great grandparents in the 1870s in 2 railway cars, one for the animals and one for the two brothers, Joseph and Thomas Harris. Joseph's bride was Mary Gainer a direct descendant of Aaron Betts and Sarah Jacocks, then still Quakers. We have their love letters of the 1860s. Carolyn Fix Blount, Seattle
