Kathy,

I can't recall if we have communicated or not. I am also descended from William Carter and Anne French, parents of French Carter, but through daughters Rebecca and Sarah. I have no leads on Jaycox at this time and I am just starting to work on that lineage. I was wondering if you know the death date and place of Elizabeth Jacox, married to French? Hoping to find Anne French as she died about the same time as Elizabeth. Have yet to find either grave. Family tradition has family buried on their own property in the past was hoping to find the property in Douglas or Leavenworth, KS counties and see if either would be buried there. Both were alive 1865 in Douglas County, Kansas.

I will keep you posted, and the list, on anything I find on the Jaycox lineage. Possible, they are descended from Isaiah and Maria but through Francis instead. Current thought is that Isaiah did not leave Ohio and our David Jaycox was born in Virginia, immigrating to Ohio when he was about 14, which would be circa 1836, family history states Greenbriar, VA, now West Virginia. This is when William and Anne went to Ohio. My census records show David Jaycox, born abt 1821, was born in Virginia. I may be remembering incorrectly but I think Simeon Carter, an elder son of William and Anne, also married a Jacox in Virginia. But don't quote me on that as I am not referring to my notes. He did not migrate to Ohio but stayed in Virginia. Two of my David Jaycox's brothers fought in the Civil War, David did not. Their names were William and John, this lends credibility to your findings. I have sent for Civil War records hoping their parents may be listed.

If you would like to communicate individually regarding the Carters, etc, and our family tree, you may contact me at

Regards,

Janis Wander
