My great grandmother who died at age 98 in Germantown, New York was Emmalinda L. Jaycox, born in
Philipstown, NY (Putnam Valley of Putnam County - Called Quincy when still a part of Dutchess County)
February 22, 1860. She was the daughter of William O. Jaycox and Catharine Laforge. William was a
farmer in Putnam Valley (Philipstown). I have found the family listed in the 1860 and 1880 Census Images
that are available through the Ancestry.com services.
I'll be glad to share any info I come across but haven't had much of a chance to concentrate on this strand
of my family line. My great grandmother - Emmalinda Jaycox married George Fowler Forman, son of
Gilbert Forman and Catharine Denney. My great grandmothers daughter Ethel Mae Forman was a school teacher
in Cold Spring, New York where she married my grandfather - Jesse Tompkins.
I noticed in the Forman Family Geneaological record that many of the families living in the same vicinity
of Long Island seemed to move together as they progressed in various stages to the Dutchess and Putnam
County areas of New York. The Formans came from the Flushing and Oyster Bay areas of Long Island, NY.
