So 'Where's Benaiah Gustin in 1850?' & other ???'s
Help --
Good ol' ancestry.com doesn't seem to be able to find noted, but unfortunately unpublished, Jayne biographer, Benaiah Gustin "B G" Jayne; b 26 May 1831, Scott, Wayne, PA; d 29 Dec 1921, Lone Tree, IA, in their computerized indexing system for the 1850 Federal Census -- or at least I can't find him. Anybody?
Which brings up another matter:
B G Jayne has stated, "In 1848, I went with my father to what is now Wyoming Co. Penna. to visit his cousins who had settled in Wyoming Co., David, William and John Jayne, the three eldest sons of Captain Timothy Jayne."
How does this match up with those genealogies that list a William Jayne, b 8 Jan 1772, d 14 Dec 1835, who married Elizabeth Bunnell 23 Sep 1797, as a son of Capt Timothy and his wife Sarah Allen?
It would seem that either the parents, the date of death, or B G Jayne are in error ~~
I'm certainly open for explanations and/or help, as I sure don't know ...
Thank you,
Bill Strickland
