Joe,
Very little is known about William de Jeanne ( William Jayne I 1618-1714 ) 's father... Henry de Jeanne other than he was an Oxford graduate and later became an Oxford Lecturer. It was his brother, William de Jeanne, who first went to the Colonies (America) and settled in New Haven, CT., lived on the town square ( Church & Chapel Sts. between 1641-1648)..he later would welcome his nephew ...our William Jayne 1618 -1714 into the Colony and helped him get his start.
While I know limited info about your ancestor.... Mathias b. 11 Nov 1686 d. 2 June 1768 / m.: Temperance Helme ... mainly because he isn't my direct bloodline ancestor, I have focused upon his part in the research I've done on the Jayne Homestead there in Setauket, Long Island, NY.
Jim
