What a thrill: (Mrs) "Sallie Blount Jewett" Jeffords is buried Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington, N.C., Section 'E', Lot #20.The Bradley family was one of it's founders. It is old, it is lovely. My late aunt, Mrs. Amoret Cameron Wootten Davis inherited the lot by will, from her great grandmother, Mrs Eliza Claudia Yonge Jewett, 2nd wife of Stephen Jewett, IV. Eliza recieved it from her never married uncle, also interred there; James A. Bradley, who purchased it 1856. I did not marry untill age 58, Aunt Amoret (no issue) died 1982 (born 1885) gave me one grave; had we dreamed I'd marry, she'd given me the other, last grave too. But as two cremations are allowed per grave: no problem. If you like, likely you could join us; and your ancestor Sallie, in the last space? James Alfred Miller, Jr., Southport, North Carolina. Sallie, I, et al, are in the green tome: "Sir Ellis Hicks (1315)...",et al, "...Philip le Yonge (1295) and 7,812 Descendants", by the late (friend, his wife kin) Eugene C. Hicks, Esq., Wilmington Printing Co., Library of Congress 82-81537. It is 726 oversize pages, has two indexes (don't get confused). The Local History Room of the New Hanover County Public Library, Wilmington, has a copy; as do I, and the Genealogical Library, N.C. State Library, State Archives Bldg., Raleigh, N.C. It was a long labor of love by Mr. Hicks for his first wife's family, and the Episcopal Church. Your long lost Carolina "Cousin", Jim Post Script: the small tombstone has only her initials (the cemetery office assumed she was an infant), the cemetery office card did not mention her married last name, and only death date. Mr. Hick's book added her parents, siblings, and birth date and this cryptic note (Jeffords?); I added Jeffords to her name, and dropped it into the computer, and the electronic genie; produced you to me, and I to you; across the span of history. If he yet can, Mr. Hicks gently smiles; maybe even applauds. His lasting legacy, yet living.
