I went digging through my husband's Jerome records and the John Jerome mentioned here was the brother of Jesse Jerome, my husbands g-g-g-grandfather.John and Jesse were sons of Benjamin Jerome (1746-1824) and Desire (Brown) Jerome, 1742/43-1822.Benjamin and Desire had eight children in all:
Hannah, 1774-1845
Benjamin, 1775-1796
William, 1777-1796
Richard, 1778-1869
Jesse, 1780-1867 (16 Children with two wives, between 1805 and 1841)
Frances, 1782-1817
John, 1783-1862
Abigail, 1785-?
John's father Benjamin (1746-1824) was a Revolutionary War veteran who saw service at Peekskill, NY in 1777.He was enrolled in Capt. James Stoddard's company, part of Col. Noadiah Hooker's regiment which was with the brigade led by BrigGen Erastus Wolcott of Windsor CT.As a result, anyone descended from any one of the eight children referenced above are eligible for membership in the Sons (or Daughters) of theAmerican Revolution. This information was found in the Lineage Book of the Nat'l. Society of the DAR, fifth volume (4001-5000), 1898; it was validation for Amelia J. (Jerome) Perkins (#4800) so it should apply to anyone if they care about such things.
I hope this helps someone. With any luck we will have info soon to trace the line back further.
