JESSUP WESTFIELD - Elder James Oliver Jessup, 85, of 1113 Ring Road, Westfield, NC. Elder Jessup was called to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday morning October 21, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mount Airy, NC. He was born in Stokes County November 23, 1923 to the late Harrison Jessup and Louella France Jessup. Elder Jessup was a retiree of Surry County Health & Nutrition Center, Dobson, NC, and was a faithful member of Locust Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Westfield, NC. He is survived by his loving wife Edith Smith Jessup of the home; four sons Robert (Brenda) Jessup of Westfield, NC; Clifton (Patricia) Jessup of Mount Airy, NC; Jerry Swanson (Patricia) Jessup of Winston Salem, NC; Elder Manuel (Debra) Jessup of Fort Myers, Florida; daughter-in-law Victoria Jessup of Westfield, NC; son-law Ricky Joyce of Maryland; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one sister Ella (Randal) France of Westfield, NC, sisters-in-law Mollie Smith Roberts and Ida Lou Jessup both of Mount Airy; brothers-in-law Calvin Ziglar of Mount Airy, NC; James Jackson of OK. One daughter Verna Sue Jessup Joyce; one son Elder George D. Jessup; three sisters Harriett Jessup Sawyers, Ida Jessup Smith and Vera Jessup Ziglar; three brothers Adams Jessup; Howard Jessup and Robert Jessup preceded him in death. With a host nieces, nephews, and of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. October 24, 2009 at Locust Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Westfield, NC, Elder Manuel O. Jessup will be the eulogist and burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens, Mount Airy, NC. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at the Edward J. Spencer and Pattie J. Spencer Memorial Chapel, Mount Airy, NC. Spencer Funeral Directors are in charge of all services and arrangements.
