The relevant abstracted patents to Peter Jett and Francis Triplett are listed below. Scanned images of these patents are available free of charge at the Library of Virginia website (http://www.lva.lib.va.us/).
The reason that collusion between the Jett and Triplett families has been hypothesized was because it was "very" unusual to have two families who could afford to pay for their own transportation pay for someone else's transportation but not their own. I have occasionally seen wealthy landowners, e.g. Henry Corbin, listed as headrights on patents even though they could clearly pay for their own transportation. The most common explanation that I have seen for this is that the headright wanted to let a friend obtain 50 acres of "new" land via patent. I don't remember seeing another example where entire families used reciprocal patents in this manner.
The Francis Triplett listed on the patent to Peter Jett was a MAN and he was the same person who patented 1050 acres (and he was also possibly Peter Jett's brother-in-law).
