I too am looking for more info on the jiru name. My mother is Genevieve Jiru, and her father was Ed--lived most of his life in Wisconsin.(died 1969 in Sacramento). We don't have any further back. Ed's uncle was a Bier; he had a relative in wisconsin who was a priest. Ed's parents died when he was very young and his uncle raised him. The family was supposed to have been from the Alsace-Lorraine region. I believe Ed's parents were the immagrants, and probably came in via NY. I have seen a french name of Girou and also Giroux. Any help is appreciated
