Jokels & Muellers in St.Louis MO
I am looking for info on a Jokel/Jockel/Joeckel/Yokul family from St. Louis MO, in the 1800s.my ggg-grandather Johann Heinrich Joeckel married a Maria Katharina Hoffmann (daughter of Johnnn Hoffmann & Maria Katherina Mertz)in St. Louis. She was born in 1830 on a ship. Her family was immigrating from Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany.Another record records her birth as 1828 in Hessen.Johann was born about 1830.They moved to Walker, Vernon Co, MO around 1890 and died that year. Most of their family moved back to St.Louis.
They had at least 5 children.John & Christ (Chris) died single.Katherina married (Carl)Herman Mueller. She died, and the second sister Maria Sofia (Sybilia) married the same Herman Mueller.Henry Jokel married Louisa Mueller (Herman's sister).Mary (Jokel)and Herman Mueller had several sons who grew up in St.Louis.Herman & Louisa's younger brother Otto's family grew up in Pittsburg, KS. one of their sons, Ray Mueller, was a pro ball player.
I am looking for any of these Jokel Mueller Descendants whose surnames would include Lindner, Smart, Bergfeld, Bopp.
I am also looking for info on the Jockel Mueller ancestry.
I know there are Jokels in Hessen near where the Hoffmans came from, and my grandma says her grandparents Henry & Louisa said Johann Jokel's mother was Katherina (maiden name Jockel)who was a young widow of a Mr. Kleinshmidt. It is said that Katherina's brother raised Johann because he had no heirs.
Herman, Louisa, and Otto's parents are Frederick Mueller and Erestine Wolf from Goellingen, Thuringia, Germany (at the time Prussia).Erestine Died and the family immigrated in 1870 and Frederich died soon after that. They had uncles George and ?John in N.Y. when they arrived. They moved to Chigago and left quickly during the Great fire to settle in St. Louis.
