Hi, was reading your post. I have had trouble locating my gr gr grandfather Charles/Carl Johnson who was born in Sweden and imm abt 1873. Dob could be Dec 1855, although on some forms age to year posted would have been 1853. Was told that many reunions were in NS Canada among Michigan, Wisconsin and had relation in Minnesota, and Oregon. It has been hard to find him and don't know parents names. Only found him with marriage to Caroline A Anderson b abt 1865 in Denmark, don't have her family confirmed either. The only place I start seeing his name in Michigan is in the 1900 census. He and Carrie/Cary/Caroline divorced in MI in 1919 and she lived with one of the daughters in Merrill Wisconsin in 1930. It showed in 1930 that she was widowed, don't know if it was true or said because of the stigma of divorce in that generation? I figure that since I have had trouble locating him it may be because the birth date is off or the name is different. The info I have received from people is that Carries name is different with the daughters info. One states Olsen or on, one it's Anderson, another it is Gorgensen. In her obit it states daughters and they were listed with the Michigan census as daughters. All listed the father as Charles. The middle initial could just mean Anderson for all I know. The A could stand for Andersdatter? In any case someone should know him or be related to them. I do know that Carrie/Caroline died in Chicago ILL 4-15-1935. And daughter Emma Edwards lived in the Illinois area too.
