No John Alfred Johnson in our family, unfortunately. Our name was indeed Johansson too though. I have Finnish connections as well, Rosenqvists from the Aland Islands. What I have discovered is that it is helpful to know the city your forebears came from, or the county/parish. Do you know that? Also, it seems to me I have seen information about a John Alfred Johansson on genforum somewhere. I will doublecheck my genealogy records and get back to you, if I can find your grandfather's name in it. Did you know if he sailed on the Gripsholm and what year? Do you know if he came to Jamestown? If he did, I can probably do some looking here in town for you. Best of luck!
