Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
After speaking to my Aunt Marian Johnson Lager, I decided to write back to you about John Alfred Johnson (Johansson) of Jamestown. My grandfather, J. Alfred Johnson as he was known here, did emigrate from Jonkoping, Sweden, in 1887. He first went to Moline, Illinois, with his wife Ida. A few years later, they moved to Jamestown, NY, where he spent the remainder of his life. This J. Alfred Johnson had many children, both boys and girls, all of whom, as far as I know, are buried here in Lakeview Cemetery. The thing is, Alfred's wife, Martha Rosenquist, came from the Aland Islands between Sweden and Finland, which seems conincidental or perhaps relevant to me. What do you think? What are your parents' names (don't know if this is a paternal or maternal connection for you) and where were they born?
