Note that James "Abner" Jolliff was born not in Virginia, but in Essex County, New Jersey, to Richard Jolliff, who died at Quebec in the French and Indian War in 1759. He is always "James Jolliff" in contemporary records----
the James Abner name (or just Abner) was written long after his death. The approximate birth year of 1753
that Liz Hartline suggested was based on the assumption that he was another James Jolliff, so that too can be considered a bit off---he was probably born closer to 1759.
