Dunno if this helps, but there is a death certificate for a Dempsey K. Williams in the Missouri Digital Heritage website. Go to http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/results.asp?type=basic&tLName=williams&tFName=dempsey&sCounty=all&tYear=#null

I am a direct descendant of James Jolliff from Barren County, Kentucky. However the only record I have of a Jane being in his family, either sibling or child, is a Jane Caren Jolliff b. 1825 Barren County, KY, married Thomas Jackson, and died 1850 in Clinton County, Illinois. Jane is buried in the Jolliff Cemetery, Central City, Marion County, Illinois.

For whatever it means, I have never came across the name Combs during my Jolliff family research.
