Hi Steve,
Glad to know it's you!Thank you for all the information, no, I didn't have this info. Some of it, yes. I was trying to determine the sons of Ann Jopling Childress, since I had (since this message) done the original census, I found next or on her tax (list), Samuel, Royal and Thomas.I wonder what became of Thomas? He's probably been confused with all the other Thomas'as!
Also the surname Royal.I have a Royal in my own Childress ancestry, my great grandfather named his son Royal, Roy for short, he was the brother of my grandfather.I don't know if my Great Grandfather (Richard William Childress) named his son that in honor of John Royal (Childers/ress) or not, but they both lived in KY at that time, mine having come out of Lunenburg, Charlotte, Mecklenburg Counties in VA and migrating to Caldwell and Christian/Trigg Counties in KY by 1839c.
John Royal Childers/ress is a complicated one. Some records out of TN and from the private collection of Gracey Childers have both spellings! John Royal Childress and Childers, his descendant, Capt. Gracey Childers went by what you seeAnyway, thank you very much, appreciate it.
