Carolyn: No documentation that Dinah was Dinah Evans.

Benjamin who died in Tennessee married Mary Gatewood in Amherst Co., Va., on 10 November 1783. She died in Davidson Co., Tennessee in 1826. Benjamin was there in 1820 Census, then in Gibson Co., Tennessee in 1830 Census, where he died 1834. They named their youngest daughter Dinah (b.1801). She married Caleb Rooker May 15, 1818, in Davidson Co.

Also Benjamin who was uncle to Lucinda Joslin (daughter of James) carried the U.S. mail between Nashville and Natchez Mississippi for a period of time following 1796. Lucinda married Stephen Harman. They lived in Monroe County, Mississippi, south of the old mail route on the Natchez Trace. Family history says Benjamin Joslin helped Stephen Harman find the place to settle in Mississippi.

I just don't have a problem with Benjamin in Tennessee being Benjamin son of John of Lincoln Co. He even went into that country earlier, along with a number of others (Jessee Evans and three Harman brothers included in the hunting party) to look for 'settlement lands'.
