Whitcomb L. Judson, inventor of zip fastener

Does anybody know the parents of Whitcomb L. Judson? He was b. abt 1844 in NY and d. 1909, in Chicago, I think. He was an inventor with several patents, and he invented a chainlock fastener that was later modified to be a modern zipper. He was in Illinois by the 1860 census and served in the Union army, enlisting in 1861 in Oneida, IL. His wife's name was Anne, m. abt 1873, and they had three children -- Jane m. Arthur Tobias, Gertrude, and Ross.
