Hi Charlene
If you saw the movie "ANNE OF GREEN GABLES" you know the significance of the "E". If you want to be historically correct, do not put an "E" on this Crow. Matilda's father was Peter Calloway Crow 1826-1899. All Family records. census records and headstones are consistant. No "E".
Matilda was one of 13 known children of Peter. He farmed and was an Ordained Missionary Baptist Misister.
Matilda married George L. Jumper in N. Miss in 1876. They moved to Brinkley Twp,Monroe Co., Arkansas and were listed in the 1880 census. George was 21 and Matilda was 18 with two children, David 3 and Susan 6mo. They farmed beside Matilda's brother, William F. Crow and his family.
George and Matilda moved to Texas and I am told had a total of 15 children. Son Claude returned to Ar. Had 8 sons and 1 Daughter. Met Sons, Dexter and Clovis and their mother Lillie yesterday. She is amazingly articulate at 104 years old.
Hope this is helpful. Jack in Ark
